First Semester, Bank Syariah Net Profit Rises 34.29% YoY to Rp1.48 Trillion


PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) until the first semester of 2021 recorded a net profit of Rp1.48 trillion or grew 34.29% compared to the same period the previous year of Rp1.1 trillion.

President Director of BSI Hery Gunardi said the increase in profit in the first half of this year was supported by the growth of quality financing and third-party funds  so that the lender could reduce the cost of funds. The rise in quality financing prompted an increase in margin income and profit-sharing, which grew by around 12.71% YoY.

"In order to spur performance, this year the company focuses on maintaining the quality of financing and managing the coverage ratio while still encouraging healthy business growth and accelerating digital and operational capacity," he said in his statement on Friday (30/7).

With significant profit growth, BSI can increase its profitability ratios. This was marked by an increase in ROE (Return on Equity) from 11.69%
