First Quarter, Indonesia Economy Grows Minus 0.74%


Indonesia's GDP in the first quarter of 2021 contracted 0.74% on an annual basis (YoY).

Head of the Central Statistics Agency, Suhariyanto, said that Indonesia's GDP growth contracted by -0.96% on a quarterly basis (QoQ).

"Compared to the position in the first quarter of 2020, the Indonesian economy is still contracting 0.74%. Compared to the previous quarter, this is a significant improvement," he said, Wednesday (5/5).

According to Suhariyanto, inflation in the first quarter of 2021 was at 1.37% YoY. Inflation was moving slowly due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has limited mobility of people so that the demand side was hampered.

The realization of state spending (APBN) in the first quarter of 2021 reached Rp. 523.04 trillion, an increase from the first quarter of 2020, which recorded at Rp. 452.41 trillion.
