President Jokowi: Indonesia Exports of Iron, Steel to Reach Rp440 Trillion in 2022

Jakarta - President Joko Widodo stated that iron and steel exports were set at Rp440 trillion by the end of this year.

"By the end of 2022, we hope to have reached Rp440 trillion. It's only from nickel, once again it's only from nickel, "said Jokowi at the MPR RI Annual Session on Tuesday (8/16).

He assessed that the achievement target was supported by the downstream and industrialization of natural resources that the industries continuously carried out. For example, nickel downstream has increased steel exports by about 18 times.

"I remember in 2014 it was only around Rp16 trillion, but in 2021 it increased to Rp306 trillion because Indonesia exported it in the form of semi-finished goods and finished goods," he explained.

He also stated that Indonesia had become a key global lithium battery supply chain producer. Electric vehicle manufacturers from Asia, Europe, and the United States invest in Indonesia.
