Global Economic Recovery Expectations to Push Up Rupiah

The rupiah exchange rate on Friday trade (23/4) has the potential to strengthen against the dollar, by moving to the range of 14,480-14,550 per US dollar.

Money Market Observer Ariston Tjendra said, keeping the 10-year tenor US government bond yield below 1.6% could help boost the strengthening of the rupiah against the US dollar today.

"Market expectations are still high for the global economic recovery which could help boost risk assets, including the rupiah. Improving economic data from major countries underlies these expectations," he explained in Jakarta.

However, on the other hand, market concerns about the increase in global covid cases that could suppress economic recovery are negative sentiments that could hold back the pace of strengthening.

Correction of the US stock index due to the planned capital gains tax increase for wealthy citizens in the US, could also be a negative sentiment.
