The exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar on Wednesday (21/7) may weaken in line with market concerns over the condition of the increase in cases of the delta variant of the COVID-19 case.

"Sentiment for the strengthening of the US dollar does not seem to have stopped," said money market analyst Ariston Tjendra in Jakarta.

On the other hand, improving US housing data released last night showed that the US economic recovery also supported the strengthening of the US dollar.

Meanwhile, the rupiah has the potential to weaken against the US dollar today, with a potential correction to the range of 14,550 per US dollar and possible support in the band of 14,500 per US dollar.
