Delta Variant COVID-19 Case Still Challenge for Economic Recovery

Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) assesses that the global economic recovery will be more limited in line with the spread of the worldwide delta variant of COVID-19 transmission.

"Recovery is limited especially in countries with low vaccination rates, such as India. However, with the continued strength of the economy in the United States (US), Europe and China, it is expected to support the global economic outlook," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo in Jakarta on Thursday (19/8).

According to Perry, the global economy has the potential to grow 5.8% this year. The figure is still the same as the previous BI projection.

"For the domestic market, we project that the Indonesian economy will be in the range of 3.5%-4.3% this year. This figure is lower than the assumption of the 2021 APBN which reaches 5%," Perry explained.

The national economic recovery is still ongoing, although it was slightly delayed in the second quarter of 2021 du
