Manufacturing Sector Supports Most GDP in 2nd Quarter


The Central Statistics Agency BPS stated that the manufacturing sector was the biggest driver of economic growth in the second quarter of 2021.

"Indonesia's economic growth in the second quarter of 2021 reached 7.07% on an annual basis or year-on-year. The highest source of annual economic growth according to business sector comes from the processing industry," said Head of the Central Statistics Agency BPS Margo Yuwono at a virtual press conference on Thursday (4/8).

Based on BPS data, the performance of the manufacturing industry in the second quarter of 2021 grew by 6.58% YoY. This growth was driven by an increase in performance in the transportation equipment industry sub-sector by 45.7%.

"This is supported by the demand for motorized vehicles as a result of government policies that provide PPnBM incentives," he explained.
