BI Sees Inflation in April 0.18% MoM


Bank Indonesia (BI) predicts an increase in prices (inflation) in April 2021. Based on the BI price monitoring survey (PMS) in the fourth week of April 2021, inflation is estimated at 0.18% MoM or higher than March 2021 inflation of 0.08% MoM.

"With these developments, the forecast for April 2021 inflation in a calendar year is 0.63% YTD and an annualized 1.47% YoY," said Executive Director of the BI Communication Department, Erwin Haryono, on Monday (26/4).

Erwin revealed that the main contributors to April 2021 inflation were chicken meat commodities of 0.10% MoM, oranges 0.05% MoM, and red chilies, beef, cooking oil, and gold jewelry 0.01% MoM respectively.

However, there were still a number of commodities that experienced a decline in prices (deflation) which prevented inflation, such as the commodity of cayenne pepper which fell 0.04% MoM, also water spinach, shallots, spinach, rice, and eggs which each fell 0 , 01% MoM.
