BI Sees Consumer Confidence Restrained in August

Jakarta - The Bank Indonesia Consumer Survey in August 2021 indicated that consumer confidence in economic conditions was still on hold, as the mobility restriction policy continued during the survey period to tackle the spread of the delta variant of the COVID-19 virus.

"This is reflected in the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) in August 2021 of 77.3, lower than 80.2 in July 2021," said BI Executive Director Erwin Haryono in an official publication on Wednesday (8/9).

Meanwhile, consumer expectations for future economic conditions began to improve, especially in consumer expectations that strengthened both in terms of income and business activities going forward, driven by improved mobility in line with the relaxation of restrictions on community activities.
