BI Revises Down 2021 GDP Forecast to 4.1-5.1%


Bank Indonesia (BI) has revised domestic economic growth in 2021 to 4.1-5.1%, lower than the previous 4.3-5.3%.

"Indonesia's economic growth is estimated to be in the range of 4.1 to 5.1%," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo at a press conference on the results of the BI RDG, Tuesday (20/4).

Even though BI revised it downwards, this estimate is still higher than the 2020 realization, which is still contracting. Improved exports will support growth, continued fiscal stimulus, and improved investment.

"This is reflected in the increasing PMI, vaccinations, and health discipline protocols to support the acceleration of domestic demand," he explained.

CPO, metal ore drove the increase in exports to iron and steel as well as motor vehicles. Meanwhile, the fiscal stimulus was evident from the increase in capital and goods spending.
