BI: Retail Sales Slows in June


The Retail Sales Survey (RSS) of Bank Indonesia announced the June 2021 Real Sales Index (IPR) of 202.3 or annually predicted to grow by 4.5% (YoY), although not as high as of May 2021 growth, which was 14.7% (YoY).

"The majority of the groups experienced a slowdown, especially the Spare Parts and Accessories Group, and the Food, Beverage and Tobacco Group, while sales of the Information and Communication Equipment Group and the Cultural and Recreational Goods Group contracted. On a monthly basis, retail sales in June 2021 are predicted to contract by -11 1.1 percent (MoM)," said BI Executive Director Erwin Haryono in a statement on Friday (9/7).

Based on the results of the Retail Sales Survey (RSS) in May 2021, respondents stated that the decline was in line with the return to normal public consumption after the Eid-ul-Fitr festive, especially in the Clothing Subgroup and Food, Beverage, and Tobacco Group.
