BI Keeps Key Rate Unchanged at 3.5%


The Board of Governors Meeting of Bank Indonesia (BI) decided to maintain the benchmark interest rate or 7 Days Reverse Repo Rate (7DRR) at 3.5% in April 2021.

The deposit facility and lending facility rates remained at 2.75% and 4.25%, respectively.

"The Bank Indonesia Board of Governors Meeting on 19-20 April 2021 decided to maintain the BI 7DRR at 3.5%," BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said at a press conference on the results of the BI Monetary Policy Meeting on Tuesday (20/4).

Perry said that this decision took into account the progress of the global economic recovery, especially from the United States and China, which were faster than initially estimated. The economic recovery is supported by the coronavirus vaccination or covid-19 and domestic demand.

"BI has revised its forecast for global economic growth in 2021 to 5.7% or higher than the previous 5.1%," he said.
