BI: Indonesia GDP Growth Seen 6.5% or Higher in 2nd Quarter


Bank Indonesia (BI) estimates that Indonesia's economic growth in the second quarter of 2021 will reach 6.5% or higher.

"For the second quarter we estimate 6.5% and the second quarter at 5.3%. However, the pattern is that in the second quarter it could be 7%, even from the latest data it could be higher than 7%," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo after the Governor Board Meeting on Tuesday (25/5).

Initially, the Ministry of Finance estimated that the economy from April to June 2021 could grow within 7.1% to 8.3%.

The government estimated household consumption to grow in the range of 6% to 6.8%, much better than the first quarter of 2021, which contracted (grew negatively) by 2.23%.

Meanwhile, investment or gross fixed investment (PMTB) is estimated to grow 9.4-11%, much better than the previous quarter -0.23%.
