BI: Credit Disbursement Seen to Grow Positively in First Quarter

Bank Indonesia estimates that new credit disbursement in the first quarter of 2021 will grow positively.

Based on bank categories, quarterly growth is forecasted for all bank categories and all types of credit.

The demand and supply survey for bank financing in February 2021 indicates that corporate financing needs for the next three months are predicted to be relatively stable compared to the survey in January 2021.

The financing demand from corporate was relatively stable, as reflected from the Weighted Net Balance (WNB) of 26.5%, compared to the previous month's WNB of 27.1%.

Some of the sectors that showed the largest increase in financing were agriculture, fisheries, forestry, trade, transportation, warehousing, and the mining and quarrying sector. Most of the respondents answered that they would use the increased financing needs to support operational activities, recovery of domestic demand after implementing the new normal, and payment of maturing obligations.

Meanwhile, additional financing made by households in the next three months is still limited.

In February 2021, the number of respondents who planned to increase their financing in the next three months was 1.9%, falling from 2.4% in the previous survey. These household financing applications were primarily obtained from commercial banks, with most types of financing proposed in Multi-Purpose Loans.
