BI Claims Corporate Financing Needs to Increase in March

Bank Indonesia (BI) claims that corporate financing needs in March 2021 were indicated to increase.

Weighted Net Balance (WNB) corporate financing needs in March 2021 amounted to 16.6%, an increase compared to WNB in February 2021, which was 8.2%.

Head of the BI Communication Department Erwin Haryono said the increase in financing needs,  according to respondents, was mainly in the manufacturing, trade, agriculture, fishery and forestry, construction, and car and motorcycle repair sectors.

"These needs are used to support operational activities, pay obligations that are due, and support post-new normal recovery," he said in Jakarta, on Friday (16/4).

Fulfillment of financing needs was dominated by increased self-funding, while the portion of domestic bank loans and loans from parent companies decreased compared to the previous period.

Additional financing through banking by households in March 2021 is still limited.

These household financing applications were primarily obtained from commercial banks, with most types of financing proposed in the form of multi-use credit.

In terms of banking supply, new loan disbursement indications in March 2021 were higher than in February 2021.

BI predicts the increase in new credit disbursements in March 2021 will occur in all bank categories and for all types of credit based on bank groups. With these developments, BI predicts new credit disbursement to grow positively for the entire first quarter of 2021, as indicated by WNB estimates for new credit disbursement of 52.9%.
