As of June, Indonesia's Foreign Exchange Reserves Reaches US$137.1 Billion


Bank Indonesia (BI) stated that the position of Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves as of the end of semester I-2021 reached US$137.1 billion, an increase of US$0.7 billion or 0.51% monthly (mom) from the position in May 2021 at the level of US$136.4 billion.

"The increase in the position of foreign exchange reserves in June 2021 is influenced, among other things, by the issuance of the Government's Global Sukuk as well as tax and service revenues," said BI's Chief Executive Director of Communications Erwin Haryono in Jakarta on Wednesday (7/7).

According to Erwin, the position of foreign exchange reserves in June is equivalent to financing 9.2 months of imports or 8.8 months of imports and servicing the government's foreign debt.

"This achievement is also above the international adequacy standard, which is around 3 months of imports," he explained.
