Bahana TCW: Burden-Sharing Scheme Breakthrough Move


Jakarta - The Chief Economist of Bahana TCW Investment Management (Bahana TCW), Budi Hikmat, expressed his appreciation for the burden-sharing scheme adopted by the government and Bank Indonesia so that it can have a positive impact.

"This step can be considered innovative, because there are no central banks in other countries that provide quantitative easing without taking interest costs," he said in a statement on Monday (6/9).

Budi assesses that the positive impact that will occur is to help the government in saving the budget to meet spending needs, especially health costs, in the midst of a pandemic.

"Before the Joint Decision Letters (JDL) I,  II, and  III, the ratio of debt interest spending to total government spending or the interest expense to government spending ratio could reach 16.2% or equivalent to Rp438 trillion in 2022," he explained.
