PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) in the first quarter of 2021 posted a net profit of Rp3.72 trillion, down 22% compared to the same period in 2020 of Rp.4.81 trillion.

ASII President Director Djony Bunarto Tjondro said, along with net income, profit fell 4% to Rp51.70 trillion compared to the same period 2020, amounting to Rp54 trillion.

"The revenue and net profit of the Astra group in the first quarter of 2021 are lower than the same period last year, considering that last year the pandemic had just started to affect Indonesia's economy and business performance substantially in March 2020," he said in Jakarta, on Thursday (21/4 ).

He added, although the group's business performance has slowly improved in the last few months, uncertainties due to the impact of the ongoing pandemic still overshadow the prospect of this year's performance.
