Indocement Tunggal's Cement Marketshare Increases in 2020

PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk (INTP) in 2020 posted a domestic sales volume (cement and clinker) of 16.92 million tons or 1.9 million tons or 10.1% lower than 2019.

Domestic volume for cement was at 16.218 million tons or lower by 1.63 million tons or falling 9.1%. The figure is better than the decline in national domestic cement demand of falling 10.4%, making its market share increased to 25.8% in 2020 from 25.5% in 2019.

President Director of PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk, Christian Kartawijaya, said that Indocement's market share in Java and Outside Java experienced growth from last year, where for Java it increased by 70 bps from 34.1% to 34.8% and outside Java increased by 80 bps from 14, 5% to 15.3%.

Sumatra's island mainly contributes to the increase in growth outside Java due to the high activity of infrastructure development, the Trans Sumatera toll road project.

"Even so, the market in Java remains the center of Indocement's sales," he said at a virtual public expose, Friday (19/3).

The decrease in sales volume impacted the company's net income, which decreased 11.0% to Rp14.18 trillion compared to 2019, recorded at Rp.15.93 trillion.

"Although the average domestic cement selling price can actually be maintained, it edged up by 1% compared to last year," he said.
