10 Banks with Highest Net Profit Growth Ranking in 2020


Banking statistics published by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in the December 2020 edition recorded that there were ten banks with the largest net profit growth in 2020.

Based on the OJK data, the total net profit for commercial banks was recorded at Rp104.71 trillion in 2020 or down 33.08% compared to the same period in the previous year, Rp156.48 trillion.

The decline in net banking profit is inseparable from banks' efforts to increase the allowance for impairment losses (CKPN) in anticipation of non-performing loans due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bank BTN is in the first place because its growth in net profit, which focuses on the housing sector, reaches 664.59%. Until the end of 2020, Bank BTN's net profit was recorded at Rp1.60 trillion, surging from the previous 2019, amounting to Rp.209.26 billion.

The second place is occupied by PT Bank Pan Indonesia Tbk (PNBN), with net profit growth of 0.32%. Until the end of December 2020, PNBN managed to book a net profit of Rp. 3.07 trillion, up slightly compared to the same period in 2019 of Rp. 3.06 trillion.

The third position was PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA). In 2020 its net profit contracted only 3.63% to Rp26.27 trillion compared to 2019, valued at Rp27.26 trillion.

Meanwhile, the fourth position was PT Bank BTPN Tbk (BTPN), whose net profit fell 12.57% to Rp1.39 trillion at the end of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019 valued at Rp1.59 trillion.

Then, PT Bank OCBC NISP Tbk was in the fifth position with net profit eroded 24.76% to Rp2.3 trillion in 2020 from 2019, amounting to Rp3.23 trillion.

Furthermore, in the sixth position, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) recorded a net profit of Rp14.15 trillion in 2020. This net profit decreased by 44.37% compared to the acquisition in 2019 of Rp. 25.44 trillion.

Meanwhile, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) is in the seventh position with net profit growth contracting 45.34% to Rp21.15 trillion in 2020 compared to the 2019 position of Rp38.70 trillion.

The eighth-place is PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk (BNGA), which at the end of 2020 its net profit fell 47.41%. Until the end of last year, CIMB Niaga's net profit was Rp1.83 trillion, a decrease compared to 2019, Rp3.48 trillion.

PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (BDMN)was in the ninth position, whose net profit in 2020 was Rp1 trillion, a drop of 72.97% from the position in 2019 of Rp3.7 trillion.

Position 10, there is PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI), which throughout 2020 its net profit was eroded 81.17% to Rp2.75 trillion from the acquisition in 2019 valued at Rp14.61 trillion.
